[S>] Blitzen has been in the lab. Well, more like the studio. This gloving idol, who also runs the GetBlitzed project, features a bass heavy sound that will amp everyone up before Bear Grillz hits the stage. Her set starts at 4:30 PM and will be the backdrop for open gloving time during the afternoon.
IGC is THIS WEEKEND! Are you excited? You know I am since I’ve been mentioning it in every piece you’ve seen from me recently….
But now, IGC is here. It’s the event we have all been waiting for, the big one, the SuperBowl, the World Series, GloverMania if you will. This is the time when the best glovers in the world step up for their chance to show the world what they can do and have a great time in the process.
With so much hype surrounding big name glovers like [PM] Cypher and [ION] Vex in the Legends Bracket, people forget that there are 128 awesome competitors in the Open Bracket. Since IGC boasts talent from all over the country, I wanted to shout out some of the top sleepers in my book.
After an unforgettable summer full of flow arts and festivals, orbiter Allazo has challenged the undisputed leader of the orbiting community, [ST] Torq, to a battle at TomorrowWorld. Both members are the only orbiters on this festival’s FaceMelt Crew, which includes glovers like [3M] Jest, [LLB] Starlight and [EF] Vulcan, but their battle has been highly anticipated since Allazo called Torq out on Starlight earlier this month.
In general, Insomniac does a great job of encouraging its attendees to be creative. Between kandi, totems, costumes, glow gear, and flow arts, it’s legitimately awesome that we can bring nearly anything we want out to rave.
With that said, I’m a glover, and at Nocturnal Wonderland this year we got the short end of the stick. Something needs to be said about the way we were treated.
Before I get into it, I have to state the obvious. LED Gloves are not allowed at Insomniac events. This policy has been in place since 2011. However, most of the time, security inside the event is lax about it. This set the stage for a particularly shocking Nocturnal experience that resulted in violence and corruption among security.
When it comes to festivals I’m a total camping fiend. Hotels are for the weak! But I had never camped at a rave, so I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect at Nocturnal Wonderland. Luckily, being with the Facemelt Crew, it was pretty much impossible to have a bad time.
We interrupt our regularly scheduled feature breakdown to bring you a special recap of an amazing week we had with all of our sponsors earlier this month in the days leading up to HARD SUMMER 2015. The spark that ignited this gathering of fire started when [IM] Puppet earned a free trip to HARD, courtesy of Emazinglights, for his success in the Sponsorship Program.
We had so many glovers from so many states all in one place! [GG] Swirlz and [MOB] Vex from Florida, [UV] Flow and [UV] Blastoff Sloth from Seattle, [3M] Jest from Minnesota, [IM] Mez from Hawaii, [PM] Cypher and Tranquil from Socal, the list goes on. It is so insane to think that most of us do not even know each other save for online interaction and a common goal to create a better gloving community, yet when we are all together it feels like a family reunion.
Webster Hall: A historic venue from the 1800’s that has more recently hosted acts like Infected Mushroom, Bro Safari, 12th Planet and Clean Bandit. The thought that any kind of gloving event could he held here was nothing more than a fantasy for northeast gloving communities, until now.
We’re excited to announce that the New York Gloving community’s Empire Flow will be the first to do it.
Following the deaths of two teenage girls at HARD Summer this month, Live Nation cancelled Sept. 10’s HARD Fest A Night at the Fairplex and significantly scaled back Halloween’s HARD Day of the Dead.
On Aug 1, HARD Summer saw 18-year-old Tracy Nguyen and 19-year-old Katie Dix die of suspected ecstasy overdoses. Autopsy results have not yet come in. Following this, LA County Supervisor Hilda Solis proposed that the county ban EDM events entirely.
